When the Marvel superhero movie Black Pantherpremiered in 2018, the blockbuster set off a pop culture tidal wave, spawning trends and redefining what a Hollywood success story could truly be. Four years later, the highly anticipated sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever picks up where Black Panther left off, and while the 2020 passing of the film’s star Chadwick Boseman left an irreplaceable void, the team behind Wakanda Forever made sure the film—and the world premiere—created a space for celebration and healing.
The film’s all-star cast brought high spirits and glamourous looks to the Wakanda Forever premiere, and we’ve rounded up the natural diamond jewelry moments that dominated the purple carpet.
All eyes were on Rihanna as the mogul and musician celebrated the Wakanda Forever premiere—and her new single “Lift Me Up” from the movie’s soundtrack—in REZA’s Ruban Earrings. The earrings, which are darkened gold climber earrings with 116 round diamonds totaling 9.74 carats, added balance to her shimmering olive Rick Owens gown. Her jewelry look also included earrings from Neil Lane and Maria Tash.
Michael B. Jordan
Michael B. Jordan’s sunny yellow Louis Vuitton suit was accessorized perfectly with Tiffany & Co. jewelry, including a yellow gold and pavé diamond necklace from the Hardwear collection and rings and a bracelet from the Lock collection. He completed the look with a gold watch from Vacheron Constantin.
Regal in every way, Danai Gurira’s Robert Wun Magenta Humming Rose Gown was topped with Bulgari jewels including earrings and Serpenti rings.
At the Wakanda Forever premiere, Letitia Wright paid homage to late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman in a black and crystal Alexander McQueen ensemble reminiscent of the Givenchy suit Boseman wore to the 2018 Academy Awards. Her jewelry included Panthère De Cartier white gold, diamond, emerald, and onyx earrings and Cartier rings and bracelets.
Michaela Coel is the newest addition to the world of Black Panther, and dazzled on the purple carpet in a shimmering, hooded Ferragamo gown and rings from Thelma West and Lola Fenhirst.
A queen on and off the screen, Angela Bassett wore natural diamond jewelry from REZA including the brand’s white gold and diamond Spirale earrings and ring.
Sheryl Lee Ralph
Emmy-winner Sheryl Lee Ralph tapped her daughter Ivy-Victoria Maurice to style her for the premiere, pairing a Pantora sequined leopard-print skirt with a blue turtleneck and finishing the look with diamond hoop earrings from her personal collection.
