The Venice Film Festival 2026 has begun, delivering the dazzling diamond jewelry we’ve grown to anticipate from the week-long, ultra-glamorous red carpet event since its inception in 1932. Cinema’s most beloved actors and filmmakers descended upon the Italian City of Canals to celebrate the most exciting projects of 2026, decked out in jaw-dropping jewels.
This year, actress and director Maggie Gyllenhaal will preside over the main competition jury, which includes Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, composer Daniel Blumberg, French filmmaker Xavier Giannoli, Afghan filmmaker Shahrbanoo Sadat, and Hong Kong filmmaker Johnnie To.

Some of Hollywood’s brightest stars are heading to Venice, Italy, to light up the red carpet. On opening night, George Clooney received the honorary Golden Lion lifetime achievement award, with his perfectly posh wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, at his side.
