Sotheby’s Luxury Week in New York is a series of sales showcasing the “best of the best in each discipline”. These sales include fine wines, rare shoes and handbags, rare watches, and the pièces de résistance, magnificent jewels. The Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale concluded on June 16th with very impressive results for the famed auction house. Below is a roundup of the most impressive pieces we saw while touring the preview of the sale and their final auction prices.

The Juno Diamond 

The Juno diamond auctioned at Sotheby's Luxury Week June 2022

From the property of a private collector, the Juno diamond is a remarkable 101.41 carat D color, internally flawless pear-shaped diamond. Named after Juno the goddess of love, marriage, and community. It takes its place among the largest colorless diamonds ever sold at auction. Sold for $12,963,500.

Kwiat Diamond Ring

Kwiat diamond ring auctioned at Sotheby's Luxury Week June 2022

A 26.06-carat square emerald cut diamond mounted by Kwiat graded D color VVS1 and Type IIa by the GIA. Sold for $2,349,000.

A pair of antique Fancy Color Diamonds 

Fancy colored diamonds auctioned at Sotheby's Luxury Week June 2022

A 4.08-carat old mine cut fancy intense pink diamond which sold for $3,801,000 , and a 3.46-carat rare Fancy Gray-Violet Diamond which sold for $1,986,000.

These diamonds were once mounted in a ring together and represent a rare example of such exquisite natural color diamonds in their original antique cut. 

Van Cleef & Arpels Diamond ‘Boreal’ Necklace

Property of a prominent American philanthropist and of floral design, set with round and oval-shaped diamonds many of which are over 1 carat each and up to 3.24 carats. Sold for $1,197,000.

Property to be Sold for the Benefit of a Charitable Foundation. Designed as a highly flexible, gathered double loop, set with round and baguette diamonds. Sold for $730,800.

Heart-shaped Diamond Ring

Centering a heart-shaped diamond weighing 10.05 carats and E color, VS2 clarity, framed and accented by round diamonds. Sold for $302,400.

Heart-shaped diamond tennis necklace

Sold to Benefit the Rancho Feliz Charitable Foundation and composed of a line of graduated heart-shaped diamonds, the five largest weighing 7.03, 3.01, 2.54, 2.40, and 2.22 carats. Sold for $327,600.

Harry Winston Extraordinary Diamond Necklace c. 1945

Property to be Sold for the Benefit of a Charitable Foundation Designed as graduated lines of baguette diamonds, featuring similarly set overlapping bands and articulated loops mimicking a stylized bow. Sold for $239,400

Van Cleef & Arpels Diamond Bracelet c. 1930s 

Of openwork, geometric design, featuring emerald-cut diamonds, embellished with round, old European-cut, half-moon-shaped, and baguette diamonds. Sold for $352,800.

Reza Diamond Ring 

Reza diamond ring auctioned at Sotheby's Luxury Week June 2022

Featuring an emerald-cut diamond weighing 7.67 carats E color, VVS2 clarity within a scrolled mounting. Sold for $302,400.
