1. Curated Natural Diamond Selection

Requirement: Showcase a curated selection of natural diamonds, with diamonds over 1ct graded by the world’s most reputable grading laboratories (e.g. GIA, GSI, IGI).

Notice: NDC will conduct mystery shopping annually to ensure Premier Retailers are maintaining these standards consistently. Mystery shopper will validate that the retailer provides grading reports for all natural diamonds over 1ct.

2. In-Store Diamond Screening Tools

Requirement: Utilizes in-house diamond screening tools to ensure consumer confidence in diamonds presented to customers. Retailers must have a policy in place to screen diamonds to validate natural diamond authenticity through in-house diamond screening technology, use of 3rd party screening of all natural diamonds, or supplier policy for screening of all natural diamonds.

Notice: NDC will conduct mystery shopping annually to ensure Premier Retailers are maintaining these standards consistently. Mystery shopper will validate the retailer’s diamond screening policy.

3. Rigorous Diamond Education of Store Team*

Requirement: Maintains rigorous diamond education across the store team to provide best-in-class guidance to customers. All key diamond sales professionals have completed recognized diamond education courses. For those who have not yet completed formal training (e.g., NDC, GIA, AGS, or other accredited industry programs), they are required to complete two Diamond Learning Center modules of their choosing.

Submit: List each key diamond sales professional’s full name and the organization from which they received their certification.

4. Transparency Through Responsible Sourcing*

Requirement: Must have a written ethical sourcing policy that ensures all natural diamonds and diamond jewelry are sourced through a supply chain that complies with international and local laws, respects human rights, and minimizes environmental impact.

Submit: Provide a written copy of your Ethical & Responsible Sourcing Policy, or include a hyperlink to the policy on your website. NDC recommends sourcing through members of RJC for loose diamonds and non-branded jewelry.

4a – Memberships*

List all memberships of recognized industry organizations providing oversight for supply chain integrity (e.g., RJC, JVC).

5. Exceptional In-Store Presentation*

Requirement: Delivers an exceptional in-store experience by presenting the unique values of natural diamonds

Submit: Photo(s) of instore natural diamond presentation that demonstrates 1) clear communication of natural diamond values and 2) separation from non-natural diamonds. If multiple locations, share photo(s) from the flagship store.

3. Delivers an exceptional in-store experience by presenting the unique values of natural diamonds

4. Utilizes in-house diamond screening tools to ensure customer confidence in diamonds offered

5. Transparent demonstration of ethical sourcing and responsible business practices

All resources must observe national and international laws and guidelines on definitions (e.g. FTC, CIBJO).
