Meet the Expert

- As the Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s Jewelry in New York City, Frank Everett is known for his expertise of the design and history of great period jewels.
- Everett joined Sotheby’s auction house in New York as Senior Vice President and Sales Director for Jewelry in 2013.
- Before his tenure at the venerable auction house, Everett held positions at iconic jewelry houses from Tiffany & Co. to Harry Winston.
Frank Everett, Sotheby’s Director of Jewelry, tells Only Natural Diamonds, “When an internationally recognized star like Jennifer Lawrence wears jewelry pieces ahead of auction, it has a significant impact on both their visibility and perceived value.” He says, “For many collectors, her association adds a layer of provenance and glamour. Provenance isn’t just about historical ownership; it’s also about the story a piece carries. A jewel designed by Suzanne Belperron or David Webb already holds artistic and historical importance, but when worn by a celebrity, it bridges past and present, giving the piece renewed relevance and allure. It’s especially exciting to see vintage pieces worn in such a modern and fashion-forward way, highlighting their timeless beauty and adaptability.”

Jennifer Lawrence Wore a Suzanne Belperron Diamond Brooch at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards

On Monday evening, Lawrence made a surprise appearance at the American Museum of Natural History in New York for the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards. The star presented editor Sara Moonves with the Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard during the ceremony.
Lawrence wore a classic black ensemble from the Row, with a dazzling diamond, rock crystal, and pearl brooch by Suzanne Belperron for René Boivin – quite the switch up from Katniss Everdeen’s iconic Mockingjay pin.
“The Suzanne Belperron Rock Crystal, Pearl, and Diamond Brooch is an exquisite example of early 20th-century French jewelry design, created circa 1930,” explains Everett. “The brooch is of tapered cylindrical design, crafted from carved rock crystal and adorned with Old European, single, and rose-cut diamonds. It culminates in two pearls —one round and one button-shaped—exemplifying Belperron’s signature blend of organic elegance and sculptural modernity.”
Everett continues, “This brooch was manufactured by the renowned Parisian jewelry house René Boivin, under whom Suzanne Belperron worked as a principal designer during the late 1920s and early 1930s.” The Sotheby’s Vice Chairman said, “The significance of this piece lies not only in its artistry but also in its place within Belperron’s groundbreaking career. Belperron was one of the most influential jewelry designers of the 20th century, celebrated for rejecting conventional settings and emphasizing bold forms, fluid lines, and the intrinsic beauty of materials like rock crystal. Her collaboration with Boivin helped shape the avant-garde aesthetic that defined French jewelry design between the World Wars.”
The brooch will be offered in Sotheby’s A Legacy of Elegance: Jewels from an Exceptional Collection auction on December 8, and is expected to achieve a price tag somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000. The brooch will be exhibited in a public preview at Sotheby’s new global headquarters at the Breuer Building on Madison Avenue, starting on December 5.
Jennifer Lawrence Wore a Diamond David Webb ‘Hot Dog’ Necklace at the Die My Love Premiere

Over the weekend, Lawrence hit the red carpet at the New York City premiere of her new film, Die My Love, wearing a chic off-the-shoulder classic black Christian Dior dress and a diamond David Webb necklace.
Sotheby’s Director of Jewelry, Frank Everett, says, “The Diamond ‘Hot Dog’ Necklace by David Webb is an exceptional example of the bold and playful design language that defined the American jeweler’s mid-20th-century work.” He continues, “Crafted in 18-karat gold and platinum, and accented with diamonds and black enamel, the necklace embodies Webb’s trademark combination of sculptural form, luxurious materials, and striking contrast.”
The 18-karat gold, platinum, black enamel, and natural diamond ‘Hot Dog’ necklace by David Webb earned its amusing moniker thanks to its oblong cylinder-shaped enamel plates, connected through pavé diamond links. “Nicknamed the ‘Hot Dog’ Necklace for its distinctive tubular links resembling the shape of a hot dog, the piece reflects Webb’s humor, creativity, and his ability to transform everyday forms into high art,” says Everett.
The necklace will be offered in Sotheby’s Fine Jewelry auction during Luxury Week on December 11. It’s expected to achieve a price tag somewhere between $25,000 and $35,000. The necklace will be exhibited in a public preview at Sotheby’s new global headquarters at the Breuer Building on Madison Avenue, starting on December 5.
