The 16th annual Governors Awards were held at The Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles, California, on November 16th, 2025, and Hollywood’s hottest stars turned up to the red carpet wearing incredible natural diamond jewelry. From Cartier high jewelry to pieces from iconic independent designers like Rahaminov and JAR, the jewelry truly ran the gamut and acted as the icing on the cake of the looks.

The Governors Awards is an annual event where the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the team behind the Oscars) presents honorary Oscars in categories such as Lifetime Achievement, Exceptional Contributions to Cinema, and Outstanding Service to the Academy. This year, Tom Cruise accepted his first Oscar in the honorary award ceremony, along with Dolly Parton, who received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

Unlike the traditional Academy Awards, the Governors Awards don’t focus on a specific acting role in a current film. Rather, they look at an actor, producer, choreographer, or set designer’s body of work, and hand out the trophies accordingly. Cruise has been nominated for four Oscars but has never won for a specific role. This honorary Oscar felt truly deserved for the iconic Hollywood star.

2026 Academy Award contenders are also invited to attend the Governors Awards each year. Buzzy names were in attendance, like Hailee Steinfeld, who has received critical acclaim for her work in Sinners, and Cynthia Erivo who is to star in the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good. Ahead, take a look at Hollywood’s A-listers wearing A-list diamond jewelry at the 2025 Governors Ball.
