Once in a while, the same natural diamond jewelry will be spotted repeatedly on the red carpet – but at the Cannes Film Festival, there’s one jewel to rule them all. One Chopard necklace has famously graced the collars of five international celebrities. Four of those occasions took place on the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, celebrating the Cannes Film Festival.
Worn by Jane Fonda, Rihanna, Georgina Rodríguez, Karina, a member of the South Korean K-pop girl group aespa, and Bella Thorne, the Chopard necklace features a fuchsia 123.24-carat pear-shaped rubellite tourmaline, dangling from a fluid, curved collar of 65.18 carats of pavé diamonds, set in 18-karat white gold from the Haute Joaillerie Collection.

Perfectly paired with an off-the-shoulder gown, each woman made sure their décolletage was bare and open, serving as a blank canvas for the diamond-clad masterpiece.

In 2014, Rihanna attended her debut Diamond Ball in Beverly Hills, the inaugural fundraiser for the Clara Lionel Foundation she founded to support education and international emergency response programs. She wore a classic rose-colored Zac Posen gown with a sculptural silhouette and an off-the-shoulder neckline from the Fall / Winter 2014 collection, teamed with the eye-catching deep pink rubellite and diamond Chopard necklace.

Jane Fonda wore the necklace to the Cannes Film Festival in 2013. Georgina Rodríguez, the longtime love of Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, wore the Chopard bauble at the 2023 amfAR Gala during the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Karina, a member of the South Korean K-pop girl group aespa, carried on the Cannes tradition on the red carpet in 2023. Then, Bella Thorne wore the jewel for its fourth and final trip to the festival in 2024. That same year, the Chopard necklace was sold.
