Each year since 1948, an exclusive assembly of A-list guests gathers in New York City for fashion’s biggest night, the Met Gala. On the first Monday in May, celebrities, designers, industry icons, and socialites all come together at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, looking their very best in over-the-top couture ensembles and exuberant natural diamond jewels.
First established by Eleanor Lambert, the fashion publicist who implemented New York Fashion Week and the International Best Dressed List, the Met Ball’s origins came from more modest means. When Vogue editor Diana Vreeland took the reins in the 1970s, the gala’s notoriety reached new heights and only continued to rise through Anna Wintour’s tenure at the helm of the annual event.
The 2025 Met Ball co-chairs include jewelry-obsessed gentlemen, from actor Colman Domingo, Formula One racecar driver Lewis Hamilton, to rapper A$AP Rocky, and multihyphenate talent Pharrell Williams. Serving alongside the gala’s longtime honorary host Anna Wintour, legendary basketball star LeBron James will serve as honorary chair.
This year, the exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” will open on May 10 and will showcase a historical and cultural exploration of Black style over 300 years through the concept of dandyism. The theme and dress code for evening is “Tailored for You,” reflecting the spotlight on menswear and suiting.
The red carpet opened with a sharply-dressed all-male Silk and Sound Gospel choir, serenading the crowd with an acapella rendition of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.”

At the heart of the actress’s look was a striking Bulgari necklace set with natural diamonds and the 241-carat Magnus Emerald—the largest the design house has ever mounted. The statement piece, part of the upcoming Polychroma High Jewellery collection, was paired with diamond earrings and an emerald-and-diamond cocktail ring, also by Bulgari.

The King of Bollywood let his jewellery speak volumes. His sharply tailored, monochrome ensemble served as the perfect canvas for a custom stack of talismanic chains from Sabyasachi Fine Jewellery. Called the Dandy Stack, the exquisite pieces crafted in18k gold feature old mine cut and brilliant cut natural diamonds. A closer look reveals a diamond studded pendant bearing his initials, ‘SRK’ alongside a notable ‘K’ pendant, that pays tribute to his iconic moniker, King Khan. A diamond star brooch at the lapel finishes the look. In hand, the Bengal Tiger Head Cane—also crafted in gold, diamonds and gemstones —added a final note of quiet power.

Isha M. Ambani wore an incredible necklace from her from her “personal jewelry collection.” Boasting over 481 carats of diamonds, Ambani had the piece made to replicate Cartier’s famed Toussaint Necklace, as seen in the 2018 film Ocean’s 8.
Jacques Cartier designed the original necklace upon which the one created for the film is based in 1931. The Maharaja of Nawanagar was its recipient and it included what was described as “the finest cascade of colored diamonds in the world.”
