Looking at red carpet images is like stepping back in time to see the greatest celebrities, the most popular trends, and even the most pressing concerns of today. The world’s shining stars made up for their absence on the red carpet in 2020 by returning with an even bigger sparkle in 2021. In honour of the year that was, we look back on the extraordinary red-carpet moments that defied expectations and left a lasting impression.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi’s Jacob & Co. jewellery which features a 54-carat centre stone and 25 round platinum-set diamonds in collet-style settings, is one of the most eye-catching pieces ever to grace the red carpet. The necklace, dubbed an “instant classic,” is an incredible $12 million and is a one-of-a-kind design. The fashion icon wore Jacob & Co. stud earrings totalling 10 carats with the neckpiece.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika is a master at showing that less really is more. The superstar’s drop-shaped Chopard earrings are a wonderful accent to her outfit, complimenting her strength, beauty, and grace. The simplicity of the design is a beautiful contrast to the whimsical bright pink ruffled gown from Michael Cinco.

Ana de Armas

For the No Time To Die World Premiere in London, Ana stayed true to form with an outfit that was very elegant but at the same time very simple. Her earrings comprised of brilliant pear-cut diamonds, and her ring was set in 18-carat white gold with a marquise brilliant-cut diamond. The actress also wore an emerald-cut diamond ring set in white gold, a pair of round brilliant solitaire earrings, and an 18-carat white gold diamond ring – all by Chopard. The gown, a Louis Vuitton custom creation, with a plunging neckline, thigh-high split, and embroidered straps.

Beyonce

Beyonce is a legend for a reason. This year, she floored us with an icy diamond and emerald necklace and drop earrings, as well as a bespoke Alexander Vauthier gown. The multi-tiered necklace is embellished with two magnificent rows of diamonds and verdant emeralds. Earrings with diamond cascades that begin and end with stunning emerald droplets were added to complete the set. Lorraine Schwartz designed the exquisite pieces, all befitting royalty.

Zendaya

Zendaya loves to deliver a dramatic style moment. So she dazzled at the London premiere of her new film, Dune, where she arrived wearing several Bvlgari’s, Serpenti Viper two-coil bracelets in 18 kt rose gold with pavé diamonds and matching diamond rings. The finishing touch was Rick Owen’s Fall 2021 collection’s sculptural off-white sequin gown.

Padma Lakshmi

Padma Lakshmi, Bravo’s Top Chef host, is absolutely stunning in whatever she wears, but this glittery ensemble is one for the books. Her look was highlighted by a lariat-style necklace from Jacquie Aiche, which was handmade from 14-karat gold and set with 0.41-carats of round and trillion-cut diamonds and a teardrop-shaped pearl.

Lili Reinhart

The Riverdale actress shone brightly in a 13-carat Kwiat diamond necklace that was difficult to miss. Lili wore a sheer pink voile corset gown by Christian Siriano that showcased flowers from each state, with the tennis necklace highlighting the gown’s delicate features and the actress’s soft makeup. Fred Leighton earrings with stunning teardrop diamonds complete the set.

Elizabeth Olsen

The Marvel star has been gravitating toward minimalism and sophistication of late, in a stark white dress that is contrasted by Elizabeth’s extravagant Chopard waterfall earrings, which are set with 69 carats of diamonds and held together by an exquisite titanium mesh pattern. It’s true what they say, style is forever.

Priyanka Chopra

Priyanka Chopra donned a dramatic diamond and emerald neckpiece from Bulgari, with a set of timeless diamond earrings to the premiere of the Matrix: Resurrections in Toronto. In addition, the crossover star looked stunning in a shimmering strapless dress by Halpern, which had orange accordion pleating that spread over the bodice in a fan-like pattern.

Lady Gaga

The unmistakable diva opted for a sleek hairdo, bold makeup, and a sparkling collection of diamond jewellery to embody the spirit of her House of Gucci character. Lady Gaga wore Messika high jewellery Desert Bloom earrings with the magnificent High Jewellery Diamond Speaks necklace and the renowned My Twin Trio ring. She completed the look with a sequin-adorned flowing gown from Valentino’s haute couture line.

The importance of timeless jewellery can’t be overstated since it is a great conversation starter – whether it was because the jewellery was stunning, because it cast a new light on someone, or because it inspired us to be our very best selves.

All we can do now is sit back and wait to see what 2022 has in store. Just remember to always shine bright like a diamond.
