Behold—The 17 Best Celebrity Engagement Rings of 2020
From classic and timeless to incredibly unique and personal, we’d say a very enthusiastic “yes” to any of these diamond engagement ring styles.By Dan Koday |
‘Tis the season for roundups. And since the holiday season is, after all, the most popular time of year to pop the question, we’re feeling particularly nostalgic when it comes to a look back at 2020’s best celebrity engagement rings. Although this has been a strange year (thanks,COVID-19!), the one thing that’s helped retain any sense of normalcy forcelebs and non-celebs alike is love.
In fact, Kate Rogowski, the Vice President of Marketing at Forevermark told BRIDES that engagement ring sales are up 20 to 30% percent this year alone. She noted that couples are opting for more classic styles, a trend that has been echoed among celebrities who are choosing to mark their engagements with solitaires and three-stone rings. Without further ado, let’s dive right into the decade’s first year of glittering engagement ring trends by way of this compilation of the very best rings celebrities said yes to this year:
Ariana Grande Engagement Ring
The “7 Rings” singer had it nicely narrowed down to the *perfect* one just days before the holidays and close of 2020. She announced her engagement to real estate agent Dalton Gomez and blessed us with not one, but two pics of the covetable sparkler on IG. The ring appears to be an oval diamond, 7 carats, offset next to a beautiful pearl on a thin platinum band. With a ring as ultra modern and original as something Ariana would wear, we predict she might have had a hand in picking it out alongside her beau, like many modern brides today.
Gwen Stefani Engagement Ring
One of the biggest celeb engagements of the year (and let’s face it, the one we were all secretly hoping for), happened in October when Gwen Stefani became engaged to her fellow The Voice co-host, Blake Shelton. While she’s kept the ring pretty under wraps, she gave her Instagram followers a glimpse of what looks like a large radiant cut diamond framed by tapered baguettes. Wowza.
Anna Faris Engagement Ring
No, she is not with Jason Biggs, but Actress Anna Faris announced her engagement to cinematographer Michael Barrett in February, a time that seems a million years ago to most of us. Featuring a cushion cut fancy yellow diamond surrounded by a double halo of micro pavé set diamonds all set in white gold or platinum, the ring is definitely worthy of memory.
Nikki Bella Engagement Ring
Artem Chigvintsev, a name we’d never dare ask you to pronounce, danced into the heart of his Dancing with the Stars partner Nikki Bella, announcing their engagement early on in the year. On her podcast, Bella described the ring as “like a Harry Winston design,” and continued by saying she loves classic, old Hollywood styles. When it looks this good, we couldn’t agree more!
Clare Crawley Engagement Ring
The star of The Bachelorette made major headlines when she said yes to Dale Moss very, very early on in Season 16. The ring was, of course, designed by Neil Lane, who posted a stunning Instagram video about it. And we’re thankful he did, because the ring features a 4.5 carat radiant cut diamond at the center, with two shield-shaped diamonds on the sides. From there, the band is covered in 145 round cut diamonds that add lots of light and luminescence.
Tayshia Adams Engagement Ring
Season 16 was The Bachelorette season that just kept giving. Tayshia Adams, the other contestant who subbed in after Clare Crawley’s departure, became engaged during the finale of this addicting season to addiction specialist Zac Clark. The ring, you might ask? Refined and riveting and very different from Clare’s, Neil Lane also designed this 3.25 carat shimmering sensation, which features an emerald cut at its center surrounded by a halo of 27 round diamonds and 67 round diamonds that hug the band. “The emerald cut is very classic, very 1920s, vintage and high-style,” Lane told People.
Heather Rae Young Engagement Ring
Real estate and natural diamonds: both are a solid place to make an investment, something Selling Sunset star Heather Rae Young officially knows well. The breakout Netflix star became engaged this year to HGTV’s Tarek El Moussa; according to her Instagram caption, the happy couple chose an eight carat diamond because it’s a lucky number, and an emerald cut because it’s her favorite.
Lily Collins Engagement Ring
Lily Collins announced her engagement to Charlie McDowell in September 2020, just a month prior to her hit show Emily in Paris’s Netflix premiere. For the star, a romantic, vintage-inspired ring with a twist was the right choice. Instagram reveals that its unique bezel-set rose cut Irene Neuwirth-designed diamond weighs in around three or four carats and appears as see-through thanks to its unique shape.
Gabourey Sidibe Engagement Ring
When it came to celebrating with something precious, actress Gabourey Sidibe knew only the finest natural diamond sparkler would do. Her now-fiancé, Branden Frankel, marked the occasion by presenting Sidibe with a stunning classic round brilliant cut diamond on a petite diamond band.
Vanessa Grimaldi Engagement Ring
Grimaldi was the winner of Season 21 of The Bachelor, and while she didn’t ultimately find love on the show, she did find it this year with Canadian businessman Josh Wolfe. Her three-stone diamond ring features an oval cut diamond center stone bookended by two smaller round diamonds in a yellow gold setting. It’s classic and oh-so-gorgeous.
Nicola Peltz Engagement Ring
Actress and model Nicola Peltz got engaged to Brooklyn Beckham in July 2020, and the ring is a total showstopper. While up-close pictures of the ring are hard to come by, it appears to feature a large elongated emerald cut diamond set on a petite platinum diamond band that really lets the center diamond do the talking.
Amber Riley Engagement Ring
Singer, actress and Glee alumni Amber Riley announced her engagement to boyfriend Desean Black in late November. The lovely ring mirrors Riley’s gregarious personality and features an oval cut diamond surrounded by a halo and two diamond-encrusted bands.
Jasmine Tookes Engagement Ring
Model Jasmine Tookes put her ring finger in the spotlight after revealing her engagement to Snapchat’s Juan David Borrero. The close-up snap on Instagram shows Tookes’s stunning 7.5 carat oval cut prong-set diamond on a slim 18k gold band—and adorable proposal, involving WYMM? spelled out in rocks in the most magical of settings in Utah.
Lily Allen Engagement Ring
Singer Lily Allen wins for perfectly pairing her nails with sparkling hearts when she revealed her engagement to Stranger Things star David Harbour in May. Her nail artist luckily snapped an up-close-and-personal pic of this beaut, which is a stunning two carat, round cut diamond set on a diamond band and paired with a matching diamond eternity band.
Jourdan Dunn Engagement Ring
Actress and model Jourdan Dunn couldn’t hide her excitement when she posted her engagement to rapper Dion Hamilton in February with a stunning photo of her glittering diamond ring. The aforementioned bling features an oval cut diamond set in a diamond halo and white gold diamond band.
Jenna Ushkowitz Engagement Ring
Winning for best ringfie upload—only because the pic includes her adorable Frenchie pup Bear and her fiance David Stanley—former Glee star Jenna Ushkowitz is now donning a classic and de rigueur style: a stunning round brilliant cut solitaire set in a yellow gold.
Honorable Mention: Demi Lovato Engagement Ring
Adored for her authenticity, Lovato’s always been transparent with her fans, *except* for this July when she giddily became engaged to Young and the Restless babe Max Ehrich, and then shortly afterwards split with the actor without any formal acknowledgement. The ring from this broken engagement was an estimated eight to ten carat emerald cut diamond engagement ring designed by Peter Marco, a celeb favorite in Tinseltown. The center stone was flanked by two trapezoid diamond side stones, and inquiring minds would like to know … With a ring this gorgeous, where exactly is it now, and if Demi doesn’t need it, can we call dibs?
