Zendaya and Tom Holland are officially married and tied the knot right under our noses. Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, broke the news at the 2026 Actor Awards. “The wedding has already happened,” he told Access Hollywood. He cheekily added, “You missed it.”

The first glimpse of Zendaya’s engagement ring broke the internet. When the Challengers actress arrived at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, she gracefully floated down the red carpet in a rusted orange custom Louis Vuitton gown, styled by Law Roach. As a Global Brand Ambassador for Bulgari, Zendaya radiated glamour in a statement-making High Jewelry necklace featuring diamonds and Paraiba tourmalines, paired with a matching cocktail ring and earrings from the iconic Italian jewelry house. But eagle-eyed fans noticed a mystery diamond ring on that special left ring finger that did not seem to be from Bulgari.

Social media instantly went wild with rumors, speculating that Zendaya was officially engaged to her Spider-Man co-star and longtime boyfriend, Tom Holland. The next day, sources officially confirmed that Holland proposed to Zendaya at her family home over the 2024 holiday season.

Zendaya’s engagement ring is an approximately 5-carat, elongated cushion-cut natural diamond in an east-west setting with a Georgian-inspired, button-back style on a yellow gold band. Style sleuths were quick to note its striking resemblance to the antique-inspired designs of UK-based jeweler Jessica McCormack.

When it comes to working with natural diamonds, McCormack told Only Natural Diamonds, “I firmly believe in the unparalleled beauty and authenticity that only natural stones can provide.”

Zendaya and Holland have been together for about four years, after meeting on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2016. The two confirmed their romantic relationship in 2021 after they were spotted kissing in a car at a traffic stop.

On top of their secret nuptials that have flown under the radar, Zendaya and Holland are now set to star in yet another film together. In 2026, the couple will appear in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, alongside a star-studded cast including Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, and Robert Pattinson.

Here, Only Natural Diamonds dives deep into the diamond details behind Zendaya’s engagement ring.

The Origins of the Cushion-Cut Diamond

The cushion-cut is one of the oldest diamond cuts, known for its rounded corners and curved sides. Reminiscent of the old mine cut, it dates back to the 1700s. The cushion-cut features a square or rectangular shape, often called an elongated cushion-cut. At the time, cutting and polishing technology was less advanced, so diamond cutters focused on preserving as much carat weight from the rough stone as possible to avoid waste.

Cushion-cut diamonds come in three main styles: brilliant, crushed ice, and antique (old mine). Brilliant cuts resemble the traditional round brilliant diamond, while crushed ice diamonds feature numerous small facets that create a shimmering effect, similar to a layer of crushed ice. Antique cuts, on the other hand, have larger facets that produce broader flashes of light, appealing to those who prefer a vintage-inspired stone.

Before Zendaya’s engagement ring, Gabrielle Union received an 8.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring from her husband, Dwyane Wade. Kanye West proposed to Kim Kardashian with a 15-carat D-color, internally flawless cushion-cut diamond by Lorraine Schwartz in 2013. And in 2017, Prince Harry gave Meghan Markle a special cushion-cut diamond engagement ring.

What Is an East-West Setting?

By turning classic diamond cuts horizontally on their side, the east-west diamond ring setting offers a fresh, contemporary twist. Today’s couples want rings that reflect their individuality while still standing the test of time, and a natural diamond in an east-west setting strikes that perfect balance between personal expression and enduring elegance

Portia de Rossi chose a marquise-cut diamond in the same orientation, set on a twisted, diamond-covered band, when she wed Ellen DeGeneres in 2008, while Catherine Zeta-Jones wears a striking east-west marquise diamond engagement ring from her husband, Michael Douglas. Similarly, French businessman Antoine Arnault proposed to supermodel Natalia Vodianova with a pear-shaped diamond with an east-west twist.

Actress Joey King told Only Natural Diamonds how her husband, Steven Piet, decided on her east-west diamond engagement ring. “He had found Mociun, and he was curious if I liked the design direction because it was very unique and less traditional,” she explained. “I was obsessed.” Today, the east-west setting has broad appeal, with jewelers around the world offering their own takes on the style at every price point.
