For the Grammy Awards’ A-list attendees, thinking outside of the box when it comes to red carpet fashion and jewelry is not only accepted, it’s highly encouraged. After all, the world’s most popular musicians and performers are anything but boring.

Known as “Music’s Biggest Night,” the Grammys celebrate music of all genres, which makes for an eclectic guest list and unforgettable fashion moments that live on long after the show comes to a close. From Cher’s whimsical post-divorce look in 1974 to the mountain of diamonds layered by hip-hop trio Migos, these Grammy diamond jewelry looks have rightfully earned a place in red carpet fashion history.

Cher, 1974

Cher brought daring looks to the red carpet decades before it was cool. For the 1974 Grammys—and fresh off of her divorce from ex-husband Sonny Bono—Cher got everyone talking when she wore a sheer, white gown with a sequined butterfly embellishment at the bust and in her hair. She added even more dazzle to the look with a diamond bangle and rings.

Rihanna didn’t wear just any earrings to the 2017 Grammys, the star wore stunners from her Rihanna Loves Chopard Haute Joaillerie partnership. The one-of-a-kind floral chandelier earrings were made with diamonds and 12 other gemstones, and she also wore a marquise-cut Chopard diamond solitaire ring among her dazzling array of jewelry, which included a diamond watch, rings and bracelets.
