Mindron Trusure Median

Mindron Trusure Median

The TruSure Median by Mindron is a portable desktop diamond verification instrument for loose and mounted stones designed to distinguish between Natural Diamonds, Synthetic Diamonds, and Diamond Simulants. The device features a large analysis area of 225mm x 125mm to accommodate testing of many loose stones at a time as well as large jewelry pieces. The Median is manually operated and requires the user to interpret color images of the stones under fluorescence and phosphorescence. Images are displayed on the integrated touch screen display

Instrument Performance

Key performance metrics measured for the TruSure Median with the ASSURE 2.0 Primary Loose Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 0%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 4.3%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 95.7%

The Primary Loose Stone Sample was tested three times and consists of 350 loose diamonds, 100 loose synthetic diamonds, and 50 diamond simulants. The stones are 0.03 ct to 0.20 ct in D-J colour.

Key performance metrics measured for the TruSure Median with the ASSURE 2.0 Smalls Loose Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 0%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 5.1%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 94.9%

The Smalls Loose Stone Sample was tested three times and consists of 350 loose diamonds, 100 loose synthetic diamonds, and 50 diamond simulants. The stones are 0.005 ct to 0.02 ct in D-J colour.

The measured test speed for the TruSure Median was 451 stones per hour.

Key performance metrics measured for the TruSure Median with the ASSURE 2.0 Primary Mounted Stone Sample:

Diamond False Positive Rate (optimal rate 0%): 1.9%
Diamond Referral Rate (optimal rate 0%): 11.8%
Diamond Accuracy Rate (optimal rate 100%): 86.4%

The Primary Mounted Stone Sample consists of jewelry pieces with open-back settings containing a total of 303 stones. The stones are a mix of diamonds, laboratory grown diamonds and diamond simulants in the D-J colour range and have a minimum girdle diameter of 2.0 mm.

Instrument Capabilities

Automated Feed: No
Automated Results: Semi-automatic
Automated Dispense: No
Detect or Refer (Synthetic Diamonds): Detect
Detect or Refer (Diamond Simulants): Detect
Multiple Stones at Once: Yes
Training Required: Yes

The TruSure Median by Mindrontech analyzes diamonds using three key fluorescence and phosphorescence properties: i)Fluorescence; measures how diamonds glow under light, ii) Short Phosphorescence; measures how diamonds briefly glow after the light is turned off, and iii) Long Phosphorescence; measures how diamonds glow for a longer time after the light is turned off.

By analyzing these properties, a determination can be made whether a stone is natural, synthetic diamond, or diamond simulant. An interpretation key with reference colors is shown on the display to assist with categorization of stones into one of the following categories:

i) Diamond

ii) Synthetic Diamond

iii) Diamond Simulant

iv) Refer

Trusure recommends that stones categorized as Refer be checked by an expert gemologist for final verification. User should tap “Check for Updates” prior to using device to ensure latest software version is installed. Software version 1.0.10 was used at time of testing for ASSURE.
