Q: What role do natural diamonds play in Indian traditions?
A: “Natural diamonds have always been deeply rooted in Indian culture, especially during weddings and festivals like Karva Chauth, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan. Beyond their beauty, they symbolize love, commitment, and lasting bonds, making them perfect for marking important major milestones and occasions.”
Q. Why do real diamonds make the perfect gift, according to you?
A. “For me, it’s about the meaning behind a real diamond. A diamond gift is a true reflection of a deep emotional bond and eternal love. They’re lasting, not temporary. While design trends have shifted toward more wearable, everyday jewellery styles, natural diamond jewellery remains a treasured heirloom that become part of a family’s story. What makes them truly memorable is the moment they were given, marking a milestone that stays with you forever.”
Q. Being in the business herself, is there a piece your wife cherishes the most from her collection?
A. “Yes, it’s our diamond proposal ring. It’s special because it marks where it all began for us.”
Q. What’s the next natural diamond gift you’re planning to gift her for Karva Chauth?
A. “I’m considering a pair of emerald cut natural diamond earrings. I find emerald cut diamonds to be very elegant and the true definition of understated luxury. They’re something she can wear daily without it being over the top.”

Q. What natural diamond pieces would you recommend investing in this Diwali?
A: “Layering is a huge trend this season. Investing in rings, bracelets or necklaces that can be mixed and stacked to match the occasion. I think a tennis bracelet makes a lovely gift too. It’s classic, looks good with everything and something she can wear all the time.”
Rohan Sharma, CEO, RK Jewellers, New Delhi
Q. What does gifting a real diamond symbolise for you?
A. “For me, a diamond gift is a promise captured in a piece of art. Beyond its sparkle, it speaks of permanence — a reminder that love, respect, or blessings being shared will last as long as the diamond itself.”
Q. How has your idea of the perfect diamond gift changed over the years in the industry?
A. “When I started working in the industry, I believed the perfect gift had to be grand and rare — a statement piece. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate meaningful design over sheer size. Today, I’d rather choose something that’s personal and aligns with the wearer’s story, rather than sheer opulence.”
Q. Being a jeweller herself, is there a piece your wife cherishes?
A. “My wife treasures our engagement ring most. I had designed the ring with two pear-shaped diamonds set in opposite orientation that fit together like yin and yang — it marked a milestone in our journey, a celebration of building something together. She often says it reminds her of our beginnings, and that sentiment makes it priceless.”
Q. What’s the next natural diamond gift you’re planning to give her on Karva Chauth?
A. “I’m planning to gift her a bespoke diamond pendant, something understated yet deeply personal. She loves pieces that carry meaning, so I want to design something symbolic — a piece that reflects her strength and grace, while still being versatile enough to wear every day.”
Q. What natural diamond pieces would you recommend investing in this Diwali?
“In terms of what’s trending, everyone loves versatile, wearable luxury — think minimalist tennis bracelets, delicate stackable rings and diamond pendants with a personal story attached to it. There’s also a growing love for east-meets-west designs like traditional polki or coloured gemstones paired with modern diamond settings. These pieces feel contemporary but still deeply rooted in our culture. But I had to pick one evergreen piece to gift, it would be a classic diamond solitaire pendant. It’s a kind of piece that will become a constant, and over time, an heirloom to pass down with stories attached to it.”
