For centuries, Indian women have loved and treasured their jewellery—carefully bringing it out only for the most special festivities and occasions. And passing their most resplendent fineries down to generations, as coveted heirlooms. In 2025, while much of it remains the same—and natural diamonds continue to be women’s best friends—a lot has pivoted, too. For starters, real diamonds are now men’s close buddies, too—worn everywhere from a casual day out, to a formal evening. And the new generation isn’t waiting for any historic landmarks to wear them or a defining moment to buy them. And they’re certainly not letting you dictate how they should wear their jewels.
As millennials and Gen Z rewrite the jewellery playbook, the only rule seems to be…that there are no rules anymore. They’re embracing natural diamonds as they want—and when they want. To them, these pieces are not just monetary investments. They are much more. They are meaningful expressions of the self, your creativity and personal style. And they are markers of milestones, immortalising life’s big and small accomplishments.
The best part: the new generation isn’t waiting for someone to gift them these pieces. Self-assured and self-reliant, they can chase their dreams and diamonds themselves.
We spoke to four such young achievers on their love for natural diamonds, how they like to wear their prized bijoux, and all that’s on their wishlist before the year ends…
Priyanka Yadav, 33

For the Creative Director and Celebrity Stylist, upending norms isn’t new. Whether it is couture or natural diamonds, she loves a piece that can be as ingenuous as her.
“Whether it is a dainty, everyday sparkler, or that one unapologetically out-there piece, there’s something about natural diamonds that instantly catches the eye, and becomes the highlight of any look. It says, ‘I’m here, I’m seen, and I own it’.
That’s why, natural diamonds are my go-to, to celebrate myself. I’m not someone who waits for a special occasion to raise a toast to my life. For me, every little moment counts. So if I see something I like, I’ll go ahead and buy it. Wearing it makes me happy, and that’s how I honour myself.
The piece on top of my must-have list currently is a brooch. I love brooches—they can be such a standout pick for any outfit. But opting for one in rare diamonds makes it even better. Like the Bvlgari Serpenti piece. And the serpent here also signifies rebirth, wisdom, and eternity. So, it is just perfect! Zendaya wore it recently at the 2025 Met Gala. The way she styled it—behind the collar, at the back of her suit—was so unpredictable; a total work of art. It transformed the entire look. It reminded me that while natural diamonds are timeless classics, you can reimagine them how you want, and make them an integral part of you.”
OUR HOT TIP: Ditch the classics with this one, and add a natural diamond brooch in a zany shape, or featuring a fun motif, to a casual button-down shirt and jeans look, to see it turn into a statement OOTD, effortlessly.
Elans Mandal, 26

For the multi-faceted Model, Photographer and Painter, natural diamonds lend just the stroke of distinctiveness he likes—to stand out as well as to celebrate his originality and artistry.
“To me, natural diamonds are a promise of forever—a reflection of timeless love, commitment, and luxury. They’re about celebrating my individuality, boosting confidence, and owning my vibe.
When it comes to real diamonds, wearing them by way of an encrusted watch is my favourite. For a casual day outing, I usually opt for this watch as my only accessory for a subtle, sophisticated look. For the night, I like to add a natural diamond chain or any other bold piece, to the mix, to up the ante.
Needless to say, my favourite piece these days is also a diamond timepiece—the Cartier Tank is a must-have watch. Its rectangular case, clean lines, and Roman numerals make it so classy and elegant. But what makes it iconic is the use of brilliant diamonds, that make it just the punctuation you need. Whether you want to gussy up a casual look, when catching up with friends; want to be kitted out in perfection for a formal meeting; or want to glam up for a party.”
OUR HOT TIP: To dial up the glitz a few notches more, stack up some more natural diamond pieces with the watch. Think tennis bracelets, cuffs, bangles, et al.
Arya Shubhan, 24

The model and artist is all about the modern merging seamlessly with the traditional, her own way—with her fierce walk on the runway, art on canvas, and natural diamonds in jewellery.
“As a woman rooted in Kerala, gold ornaments have always carried an intrinsic cultural value. They are never just another purchase—they are rewards to yourself, no matter how small the milestone. Natural diamonds, to me, are an extension of that—the ultimate (and conscious) gift to myself, for all my personal and professional victories. It’s like capturing a moment but with dazzling jewellery. And the fact that they are self-purchased adds further to their value and meaning.
My most desired piece at the moment is a pinkie ring. Like Kim Kardashian’s massive tear-drop version by Lorraine Schwartz, that she wore for the 2024 Oscar party. I’m really into rings and even have a signet that I absolutely love. But the moment I saw this one, I instantly knew I had to have it. Mine will be a 3-carat, oval cut pink diamond, on a smooth, slim silver band.
It’ll be a birthday gift to myself, for being the truest, most-reliable love of life. It’ll also be the ultimate commemoration of my journey so far and the new beginnings ahead.”
OUR HOT TIP: Mixing metals is a huge trend at the moment, so yes, bring out all those gold and silver chains from your mum’s closet, and wear them layered with some dazzling, natural diamonds, as dainty pendants, chokers, lariats, and more.
Girik Madan, 25

The Creative Director and Stylist isn’t one to hold back, be it the looks he serves, or the jewellery he flaunts. He’s slowly building an envious natural diamonds collection—that is meaningful, memorable, and magical, in equal measure.
“The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of natural diamonds is rarity, of course. But also strength. Diamonds are formed under the harshest conditions, constantly reminding you that beauty is for those who persist.
I’m at a stage in life where I’m building what I like to call my ‘perennials’— pieces I reach for every day. My natural diamond studs, rings, and a bracelet are part of my daily rhythm now. I prefer diamonds delicately spread across the body. I love mixing the classic with the unexpected. Sometimes it’s a tennis bracelet with a white linen shirt. Other times, my mother’s diamond solitaire studs, with a sharply tailored blazer. Diamonds have so much history, and I like playing with that.
If we’re talking wishlist diamonds, then I definitely want to buy a Hanut Singh piece. I loved the one on Vir Das when he hosted the Emmy Awards. I also admire Hanut’s dagger and knife necklaces, sculptural rings…there’s so much character in them. And his way of stacking and layering the pieces on himself needs to be studied!”
OUR HOT TIP: A unique, natural diamond piece can be all you need to have all eyes on you. Whether it is a quirky neckpiece, or a catchy earring. Even a stack of wristwear. Ideally, let that piece be the MVP of your look, and keep everything else minimal.
