Diamond Drip: Inside Karan Aujla’s Diamond Style

Punjabi music has always had immense swagger. Now, Karan Aujla’s stacked a few carats onto it, too.

Karan Aujla’s love for diamonds runs deep. The proof shows up before he’s even said a word, because his natural diamonds always get there first. It’s their glint that gives it away, catching the light across the arena before he sings the first note. And he has been spotted wearing them off-stage too, whether he’s boarding a flight, on set for a music video, or taking candids for his Instagram feed.

The artist of the moment has locked down his sound and his sparkle, too. Is it a flex? Maybe. Is it also him wearing the literal proof of his climb to the top? Most definitely. One thing is for certain, though: none of this happened overnight, and the story behind the shine starts long before his first release.

Formed Under Pressure

Born in Ghurala, a small village in Punjab’s Ludhiana district, Aujla lost his father in an accident when he was nine and his mother to cancer when he was 14. Raised by his sisters and uncle, he worked part-time at a port in British Columbia in his early twenties, writing and selling lyrics to other Punjabi singers while he honed his own craft.

Today, he’s a cultural icon, headlining arenas across four different continents and repping Punjabi music on the global stage. And every single time, he wears his diamonds like a second skin, carrying the genre’s love for sparkle and swagger right along with him.

A New Kind of Icon

Punjabi culture has never played it small about anything. Diamonds have long been a part of the cultural DNA, and by default, the music, too. Now, with so many artists on the rise, they’ve become an undeniable part of the genre’s visual language, and Aujla’s turned the volume all the way up. He has built a full vocabulary around natural diamond jewellery, with layered chains, stacked rings, and sparkling watches that are worthy of headlining auctions.

The Unforgettable Pendant

One piece captures his relationship with natural diamonds the best: a 100-carat custom pendant crafted by Franky Diamond in Toronto, set with micro pavé diamonds. One side shows a portrait of his parents. The other shows his own face, alongside a rotating vintage music disc, his signature, and a small Canadian flag.

It’s an expensive piece, no doubt. But its rarity lies in the fact that no one in the world will ever own this exact diamond pendant, because the story behind it is so uniquely his. And this is really the new measure of an heirloom, too. The pieces that will matter the most aren’t necessarily the biggest, brightest, or shiniest (though this pendant lacks for none of those). They are just the ones that hold meaning.

Diamonds Do The Talking

He proves his commitment to the drip on record too, in his 2023 song ’52 Bars’, where he puts a ₹22 lakh price tag on the ‘VVS’ [diamonds] shining on his chest. His watch collection carries the same intensity. His Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore “Iced Out” comes fully pavé-set, from bezel to bracelet, catching light from every angle. He’s also been spotted wearing the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce “Rainbow” Minute Repeater, a rare collector-favourite, layered with coloured sapphires and diamonds across the dial and strap.

A Cuban link chain and matching bracelet set he often rocks pull headliner status, too. Both carry natural diamonds set link by link, with almost no visible metal underneath. And all of this goes beyond the stage. The same pieces show up backstage, on a plane, during interviews, or really, wherever he goes. At this point, they’re truly an authentic part of who he is — and he’s not alone. His style evolution is part of a larger shift in which male celebrities are now wearing their natural diamonds as part of their daily uniform. The style rules have definitely changed, and Aujla’s leading the charge.

New Age Royalty

Punjabi music has always known how to make an entrance. Aujla just decided that the diamonds should walk in first.

From the pendant carrying his parents’ memories to the iconic watches he reaches for without a second thought, it’s clear that his sparkle doesn’t always need a stage to be worn. Every carat he wears with pride is like a visual receipt for everything he’s earned, and safe to say, he’s still collecting.
