The Best Must-See Diamond Jewellery of the Cannes Film Festival 2026

The Cannes Film Festival 2026 has officially started, with magnificent jewellery hitting the red carpet at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès. A-listers like Bella Hadid, Demi Moore, and Jane Fonda have arrived for the Opening Ceremony in impressive suites of dazzling natural diamonds.

Since its early days in 1946, the film festival has taken over the resort town’s renowned Croisette. Each spring, a glamorous menagerie of international movie stars and supermodels heads to the south of France to grace the red carpet leading up to the steps of the convention center. The quintessential venue to showcase jaw-dropping diamonds, Cannes’ famously strict formal dress code always calls on couture creations and mega-watt gems and jewels.

Let me set the scene. Against the backdrop of the French Riviera, palm trees sway in the breeze, mobs of cameras flash, and the energy of the red carpet reaches a fever pitch. Diamond chandelier earrings graze the shoulders of cinema’s most elite. Intricate bib-style necklaces drape across countless décolletages in diamonds, and wrists are stacked to the nines in blinged-out bangles and bracelets. Headpieces could double as historic heirlooms borrowed from the royal vaults.

This year’s Cannes Film Festival opened with a tribute to Lord of the Rings director and cinema legend Peter Jackson, who will receive the prestigious Honorary Palme d’Or. Robert De Niro was granted the honor in 2025, and Meryl Streep in 2024. South Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook will serve as jury president and will chair the competition jury, including Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, director and screenwriter Chloé Zhao, Belgian director and screenwriter Laura Wandel, Chilean director and screenwriter Diego Céspedes, Ivorian-American actor Isaach De Bankolé, Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty, and Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård.

Isabelle Huppert will serve as the Godmother of the Trophée Chopard, to be presented to emerging talents Odessa A’zion and Connor Swindells during the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Established in 2001, the award celebrates emerging international talent in cinema, each year honoring one actress and one actor with promising careers. “I am thrilled,” Huppert said in a press release. “This award honors that fragile, exhilarating moment when a career is still being shaped — a time of intuition, courage, and freedom. Supporting emerging actors means supporting the future of cinema itself.”
