It’s the People’s Choice Awards—and the People Choose Diamonds

Though the 2020 People’s Choice Awards may have featured an audience that was mostly digital, the celebrities still made sure to show up wearing some of the best and brightest diamond jewels in recent memory.

Hosted by Demi Lovato, the 46th E! People’s Choice Awards was truly a glittering and celebratory evening. After what has felt like months of lockdowns, the excitement of attending an in-person event was not lost on attendees, who were in the best of spirits, and donning the only two dress code requirements: a facial covering and some serious bling.

While the awards show is known for spanning film, television, comedy and music, it’s also a time when the stars know they can have fun with their fashion and jewelry choices. The dress code for the PCAs is always a little unexpected—and that’s one of the things we love most about it. This year, the awards honored Tracee Ellis Ross as a Fashion Icon, and Jennifer Lopez with the Icon Award. And as anticipated, there were plenty of iconic diamond jewelry moments throughout, too. These were some of the best:

As host of the 2020 People’s Choice Awards, Lovato did not waste an opportunity to celebrate the moment and stunned in her red carpet look. For her first of many outfits of the night, she topped off her sequin-clad suit with yellow gold chandelier earrings set adorned with mixed shape white diamonds, which resulted in countless of eye-catching movement.

Mandy Moore

Styled with diamond rings on each of her dainty fingers, the always dazzling This Is Us star wore Emmanuel Tarpin blue ombre aluminum earrings with diamond borders, a highlight not only from the PCAs, but the entire red carpet season as a whole.

Not only did E! News red carpet co-host Lauren Ash wear a stunning criss-crossed diamond ring on her left hand, she wore a large three-stone diamond ring on her index finger that truly stole the show. The diamonds beautifully complemented her black gown and bright yellow cape.

One of Hollywood’s most stylish men, style correspondent and stylist Brad Goreski, proves over and over his appreciation for diamonds, whether he’s wearing them for himself or accessorizing your favorite stars for the red carpet. Brad wore a diamond-clad Cartier brooch on his royal blue velvet jacket to the 2020 PCAs—the perfect way to accent an already impeccable look.

While keeping everyone on E! News updated on social media from the red carpet, Erin Lim rocked some amazing multi-row, mixed shape, modern diamond hoops as part of an otherwise playful red carpet look. The earrings featured three different rows of graduated diamonds, which made them pop off other textured details like the sparkly checkered pattern and feathered sleeves of her minidress.

Bebe Rexha

Singer Bebe Rexha presented an award while wearing a statement-making oversized diamond pave link choker, which she matched exactly to the glittery diamond pave link of her sandals. Rexha also sported stacks of white gold and diamond bracelets, including an Hermes diamond stud bangle and diamond eternity bands on nearly every finger. Smart girl.

It makes perfect sense that Tracee Ellis Ross was presented with the People Choice Awards’ Fashion Icon Award during the 2020 broadcast; case in point:  her red carpet look featuring the most elegant, architectural soft gold chandelier earrings dripping in marquise-shaped diamonds and pearl drops.

Tyler, The Creator

Tyler Okonma, who goes by stage name, Tyler, The Creator, presented Tracee Ellis Ross with her Fashion Icon Award. Also a fashion designer behind the label Golf, it should come as no surprise that Tyler knew exactly how to make his streetwear look one-of-a-kind with a diamond necklace featuring pear-shaped diamond clusters interspersed with large pear-shaped rubies and emeralds surrounded by diamond halos. Oh, and he topped it off with some shining diamond stud earrings.

The former Saved by the Bell star presented an award alongside her former co-star, Mario Lopez, in a black suit accented by multiplestrands of diamond chokers, each adorned with diamond clusters of varying shape. Creating a luminous statement look, the sought-after layered necklace trend was a big win for Berkeley.

There’s no better way to accept the Icon Award than by (A.) already being an icon and (B.) donning a pair of iconic diamond earrings. J.Lo took the opportunity to show off  her stunning Rahaminov Diamonds for Forevermark drop earrings, which each feature one very large asscher cut diamond. She wore her hair up, because you obviously don’t want to deprive people from that sparkling, showstopping view.

Mary Fitzgerald

While presenting an award, Selling Sunset star Mary Fitzgerald “closed” on a gorgeous diamond lariat necklace, as well as beautiful diamond-encrusted flower-shaped ear crawlers. The jewelry was on full display thanks to the stunning sweetheart neckline on her gown, paired well with sleek hair that was brushed back from her face.

The Grey’s Anatomy star accepted her award for Female TV Star in a sheer mesh outfit that was accented and illuminated by three diamond chokers.
