A tribute to two queens like no other.

Instagram’s Outfit of the Day is all well and good — but for those of us craving something a little… shinier? Meet Drip of the Day: Your guide to the best celebrity jewelry looks of all time.

This week, we pay tribute to two jewelry style icons like none other: actress Zoë Kravitz and musician Rosalía. On the surface, the two rock very different looks — but they share a rule-bending rebel streak and the total confidence that makes their style risks work.

They also share a love for diamonds, darling. On edgy diamond ear cuffs, diamond cocktail rings and massive 200-carat diamond earrings: The size, shape, and even color of their diamonds may change, but they are the twin queens of red carpet drip. Read on for their most opulent looks ever.

Rosalía, the Barcelona beauty whose music is a fearless fusion of traditional Adalusian flamenco with reggaeton came to slay the 2020 Grammys, and slay she did: taking home the Best Latin Album, and serving live performances so electrifying, “who is Rosalía?” immediately started trending.

Rosalía’s been called a “genre rebel,” and that ethos is visible in her style, too. Her Alexander Wang dress combines edgy ‘80s aesthetics with the classic pieces worn by Spanish folk dancers (red-dress emoji, anyone?). Flamenco, but make it fashion.

Then there’s the jewelry: Messika’s Calypso Cascade Mono diamond ear cuff, featuring 8 carats of cascading strands of diamonds. On her hands, the Concorde and Toi & Moi Rings, featuring another 7 carats of brilliant solitaire diamonds nestled in white gold. They’re sold as engagement rings, but Rosalía wears them as a celebration of success and self — and they looked damn good clutching her Grammy gold.

Front-Row Swag with Drake at NYFW

Rosalía continued her U.S. takeover,  front row with Drake at New York Fashion Week in a skintight black bodysuit , and the massive diamond rings that are becoming her style signature.

Check that heart-shaped gold ring with a center rock, and her square-cut diamond signet ring with gothic-lettered “R” (which you may remember from her super-viral video for “Malamente”). Both are custom diamond jewelry pieces by celeb-favorite jewelers XIV Karats, who also make pieces for Rihanna, pretty much all the Kardashians, and Hailey Bieber. A level of ice and swag so advanced, even Aubrey Graham can’t compete.

Modern Muse at the VMAs

2020 wasn’t the first time Rosalía popped up on our fashion radar. At the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, she made a splash in her crystal-embellished Burberry gown and dramatic diamond chandelier earrings. Both were custom designed by Burberry creative director and fashion legend Riccardo Tisci whose previous muses included Naomi Campbell and Beyoncé. Being dressed by Tisci was a true “we made it” moment for Rosalía, much like those opulent diamond earrings, featuring tiered pearls and over 12 carats of diamonds.

Zoë is a true style icon, whether she’s dressed up, down, or in between. But while her Saint Laurent gown at the 2018 Met Gala was stunning (black lace, high side slit, held together by two bows and not much else), her huge morganite earrings surrounded by diamonds (!!!) had a way of stealing the show.  Designed by Swiss jewelers Jacob & Co., the teardrop diamond earrings feature pink Morganite, which contain traces of manganese that loan them a distinctive blush color.

The diamond earrings’ “can’t look away” factor may have been part of Zoë’s master plan. While everyone was blinded by their bling, they missed the most important diamonds jewels in this outfit: Zoë’s sweet, modest, vintage diamond engagement ring, which she found on Instagram, and debuted for the first time that night. Distraction by diamonds — well played, Zoë.

Festival Chic at the Oscars After-Party

Many celebs lose their personal style on the red carpet, but Zoë’s bohemian roots are always visible. At the 2019 Oscars after-party, hertiny gold bikini top, simple skirt, delicate diamond earrings, and stack of diamond rings, all designed by Saint Laurent, were a masterpiece of minimalism that wouldn’t look out of place on a ‘90s Helmut Lang runway. But there’s also a subtle flex to going this low-key  on the red carpet: the feeling when you’re so stunning, you hardly even need to try. More importantly, it exemplifies Zoë’s free spirit: Squint and we can see this look at Coachella or Outside Lands.

When everyone else plays it safe, or goes predictably over-the-top, Zoë comes through with a look that’s sexy, bold, and totally unexpected — like this black sequin gown with its daring cutout. Her diamond jewelry made just as much of a statement, especially those bespoke diamond and pearl girandole-style earrings by Anabela Chan, a diamond ring by Le Vian Jewelry, and a wrist full of stacked diamond bangle bracelets by Yvan Tufenkjian. She topped the look with cornrows and simple makeup for a look that’s just so Zoë: So stunningly minimalist, it makes everyone else look like they tried too hard.
