2021 Red Carpet Jewelry Recap

Despite a global pandemic, social distancing requirements and Zoom acceptance speeches, Hollywood’s leading men and women kept glamour alive on the red carpet during awards season with some jaw-dropping jewelry. As per usual, shining brightly in the spotlight was the diamond, featured in luscious layered necklaces, shoulder-dusting chandelier earrings and icy cocktail rings.

For your viewing pleasure, we’ve got all the best diamond jewelry moments to hit the red carpet for awards season in 2021 right here:

ZENDAYA’S BULGARI JEWELRY AT THE 2021 OSCARS

What do you pair with a lemon-yellow, Cher-inspired dress?  Well 183 carats of yellow diamond jewelry from the famed house of Bulgari’s new Magnifica collection, of course. Zendaya’s diamond jewelry look at the 93rd Academy Awards proves that there’s no such thing as too much bling during awards season. The actress and Bulgari ambassador mixed a wave motif diamond choker with a transformable diamond necklace boasting a removable central brooch featuring a cushion cut, fancy citrus-yellow diamond weighing a whopping six carats. Her total jewelry look not only rang in at over $6 million but also featured a 30 carat diamond ring and pear cut yellow diamond drop earrings.

DAN LEVY’S CARTIER FLOWER PIN AT THE 2021 SAG AWARDS

Can we talk about the Schitt’s Creek star’s take on the traditional floral boutonniere for the 2021 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, which he  managed to elevate courtesy of Cartier? Paired with his creamy ivory suit, the floral motif brooch, with its central circular cut sea blue sapphires, was flanked by pave-set petals of brilliant cut diamonds mounted in platinum. Dan loves to take risks with his fashion and accessories, and this look made him stand out from a sea of awards season black tuxes.

ANTHONY ANDERSON’S BROOCHES AT THE 2021 GOLDEN GLOBES & NAACP IMAGE AWARDS

The brooch is back, baby, and no one has embraced it better than actor Anthony Anderson. Known to add a dash of sparkle to his lapel, Anderson wowed us with his Chopard High Jewelry diamond orchid pin—one of two epic floral brooches his stylist Courtney Mays pulled for him. Anthony wowed us again by donning a decadent Art Deco black onyx and diamond arrow jabot pin that famed French luxury jewelry house Boucheron fabricated and acquired for their archives. Cupid must have struck Neil Patrick Harris with the arrow too, because the actor was seen wearing the striking brooch to Elton John’s Oscar viewing party a month later.

LIZZO’S BULGARI JEWELRY AT THE 2021 GRAMMYS

Even though she wasn’t nominated for a Grammy, Lizzo worked the red carpet wearing two pastel confections by Balmain paired with some serious Bulgari gems (seven pieces to be exact). “I knew Bulgari was the moment. They are such a legendary jewelry brand, and the Serpenti pieces were just so fitting with both dresses,” said her stylist Brett Alan Nelson. The suite of sparklers included an assortment of rings, layered bracelets, an iconic necklace and chandelier earrings bearing Bulgari’s iconic Serpenti motif. The sparkle however didn’t stop there: Lizzo’s megawatt smile glittered further thanks to her iced-out diamond grill.

MARIA BAKALOVA’S MOUSSAIEFF JEWELRY AT THE 2021 OSCARS

Who doesn’t love a fairy tale moment? When actress Maria Bakalova glided across this year’s Oscars red carpet in her Louis Vuitton princess gown, our jaws dropped. The Borat star paired her custom ball gown with diamond jewelry that every princess dreams of wearing.  She sparkled in a classic 75.84 carat diamond necklace, complemented by spectacular pink and white diamond earrings and an eight carat D-color flawless marquise-shaped diamond ring edged with white and fancy pink diamonds by Bond Street jeweler, Moussaieff.  Sometimes fairy tales do come true.

ANDRA DAY’S CHANEL OFFICIAL JEWELRY AT THE 2021 GOLDEN GLOBES

In an interview with Vogue magazine, the singer, debut actress and 2021 awards season regular Andra Day said, “Chanel has been my favourite brand since I was a little girl. I can’t believe I get to wear this gorgeous gown on such a special night.” With it’s sequin embellished halter neck and voluminous skirt, her haute couture silk tulle gown demanded dramatic jewelry. And Day did not disappoint, wearing a smattering of Chanel High Jewelry including their Legende de BlĂ© bracelet, Commanding ring, Lion Astral ring and Coco Crush Mini rings. But the pièce de rĂ©sistance had to be the French house’s Brins de Diamants diamond earrings set in 18 karat white gold that effortlessly curved the actress’s ear. The statement-making earrings comprised of marquise shaped diamonds fashioned to evoke sheafs of wheat, which are said to be one of the late Coco Chanel’s good luck charms.  It seems that the earrings brought Day good luck as she took home the Globe for Best Actress wearing them.

MEGAN THEE STALLION’S CHOPARD JEWELRY AT THE 2021 GRAMMYS

Racking up more than 200 carats, including more than 90 carats of diamonds in her necklace alone, two diamond bracelets with a combined 114 carats and a massive brilliant cut diamond ring surrounded by 6.47 carats of diamonds, you would think that with all that high wattage sparkle, Megan Thee Stallion’s Grammy red carpet inspiration was Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. After all, the Grammy winner of Best New Artist, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for Savage featuring BeyoncĂ© certainly knows that diamonds are a girl’s best friend on every red carpet.

SALMA HAYEK’S HARRY WINSTON JEWELRY AT THE 2021 GOLDEN GLOBES

How do you time the perfect red carpet entrance?  The trick might be in your jewels?  Thanks to her Harry Winston jewelry at this year’s Golden Globes, awards season veteran Salma Hayek stunned the carpet. Concealed in her glorious diamond brooch that she clasped at her neckline was a hidden timepiece! She stopped time with her entire jewelry look which also featured exquisite diamond chandelier earrings, a Secret Combination diamond bracelet and a Candy ring featuring a 9.07 carat rubellite center stone surrounded by 13.81 carats of diamonds, as well as blue and light pink sapphires all from iconic jeweler Harry Winston.

VANESSA KIRBY’S CARTIER NECKLACE AT THE 2021 OSCARS

Did actress Vanessa Kirby look to the iconic Jane Fonda for a little jewelry style inspiration for her Oscars look this year? If you recall, Fonda stole the red carpet back in 2017 when she arrived wearing an emerald and diamond necklace backwards to the Emmys. Fast-forward to 2021, when the Best Actress nominee wore her Cartier necklace set with over one thousand diamonds and totaling 27.45 carats draped down her neck to the same dramatic effect.

JULIA GARNER’S CUFFS AT THE 2021 GOLDEN GLOBES

This was the epic Golden Globe jewelry moment we were all waiting for. Ozark star, Julia Garner, was having a major Art Deco moment in Prada when she double-cuffed her look and paired her flapper-style gown with two statement-worthy bracelets from Verdura. On her right wrist rested a one-of-a-kind No. 79 black jade cuff with a large baroque pearl, which can also be worn as a brooch, surrounded by two rows of old mine diamonds circa 1890. She accessorized her left wrist with a black and white Fulcocuff, featuring pearls, black and white diamonds. The cuff was inspired by the original Maltese cross cuffs that Verdura designed for Coco Chanel in the 1930s and recommissioned for their 80th anniversary.

ELLE FANNING’S EARRINGS AT THE 2021 GOLDEN GLOBES

Stepping out of her big sister’s shadow, actress Elle Fanning has developed a style all of her own—an elegance that is equal parts Old Hollywood glam and fashion-forward. The Great star, who was on-location in London the night of the Globes, posted on her Instagram an epic pair of diamond briolette tassel earrings set in platinum by Fred Leighton on her Instagram.  According to Town & Country magazine, the dazzling gems were custom made and the atelier worked feverishly to construct them in one day to accommodate the actress’s schedule!
