Champion Has A Nice Ring To It

Nothing says excellence quite like a natural diamond. For centuries, diamonds, the most enduring symbols of power and prestige, have been used to honour glory, greatness and achievement. After all, who wouldn’t want their most remarkable feat both figuratively and literally set in stone for the world to see? Over the years, monarchs, military leaders and artists alike have been celebrated with diamond-studded honours, making these gems far more than just decorative treasures.
Today, natural diamonds are just as much a symbol of exceptional achievements as they are of life’s personal milestones. Giving or receiving diamond jewellery evokes a melange of emotions like admiration, pride, and above all, love.
It’s no wonder, then, that championship rings have finally found their way into Indian cricketing culture. With the BCCI presenting Team India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad with natural diamond-encrusted Champions Rings, a new commemorative symbol of the country’s rich cricketing legacy has emerged.
What makes these diamond rings really special is that each ring acknowledges the individual player’s contribution to the match, while also forging an unbreakable bond of brotherhood between the victors.
Perhaps that’s why Champions Rings continue to resonate so deeply. Over the years, the sporting world’s love affair with real diamond-studded Champions Rings has produced some real dazzlers. There’s the Los Angeles Rams’ Super Bowl LVI stunner with its record-breaking diamond weight—20 carats of white diamonds set on white and yellow gold. There’s also the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 NBA ring, which incorporates over 16 carats of diamonds, rubies and blue sapphires, echoing the Nuggets’ signature colours and their 16 postseason victories. These are not just accessories; but wearable masterpieces, symbolising a sporting team’s success in a way that only natural diamonds can. That’s why outdoing other championship rings has now become a game of its own. Naturally, Team India’s Champions Ring rises to the occasion.

The idea was first envisioned by Dream11, the official partner of the ICC T20 World Cup, who wanted to bring the global tradition of the champions’ rings to Indian cricket in a way that felt both prestigious and deeply personal. This found expression in a design curated with meticulously selected natural diamonds. Each Champions Ring is set with 330 diamonds, personally selected as per uniformity of cut, colour, and clarity. These rings reflect India’s cricketing dominance and rich heritage, while pushing the boundaries of natural diamond jewellery innovation.
At its heart, a rotating Ashoka Chakra spins with the slightest movement of the finger, a bespoke innovation reflecting the team’s relentless drive. Surrounding the Ashoka Chakra are engraved match scorecards, player jersey numbers and stars honouring past World Cup victories. It also features ceramic-enforced enamel in Team India’s iconic blue, and personal engravings that tell each player’s personal story.
Harsh Sagar, gemologist, jeweller and the creative brain behind the ring design, explains his vision. “The idea was to create a ring that honours the past while symbolising continuous progress. The natural diamonds add brilliance, while representing the team’s journey, resilience, and ultimate triumph, immortalising their achievement in a form that will be cherished for generations. Every detail was intentional, making it a true piece of history.”
“THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CREATING SOMETHING TIMELESS PUSHED US TO REFINE EVERY ASPECT. WHEN THE FINAL PIECE WAS COMPLETED, THERE WAS AN OVERWHELMING SENSE OF SATISFACTION, KNOWING THAT WHAT HAD STARTED AS AN IDEA HAD NOW TRANSFORMED INTO A LASTING TRIBUTE TO TEAM INDIA’S TRIUMPH.”

And just like that, a new tradition is born. The Champions Ring has set a new standard for recognising sporting excellence. Made with natural diamonds, formed over billions of years, they serve as a timeless tribute to the grit, glory and craft it takes to reach the top. No doubt, such a memento has been a long time coming for India’s cricketing heroes, but something tells us this is just the beginning of a long, long legacy.
