Celebrity Diamond Jewellery Spotlight: Dua Lipa

One of music’s hottest “it girls”, Dua Lipa has catapulted to the music industry’s A-list after only a few years in the game. The London-born chanteuse infiltrated radio waves around the world with the massive success of single New Rules in 2017, as well as her multi-platinum debut album that same year. Lipa has kept the hits coming ever since, winning two Grammy Awards and scoring invitations to every major award show and event. It didn’t take long for the artist to become just as known for her fashion as she is for her music. 

Lipa regularly rakes in ‘best dressed’ accolades for nearly all of her red-carpet appearances, with many celebrating her ability to take classic looks and give them a bit of rock and roll edge. The star has been working with stylist Lorenzo Posocco since she was an up-and-coming singer back in 2016, and the pair has developed a trust that shows in all of her public appearances. Posocco, who also counts Troye Sivan and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as clients, has helped Lipa develop her own fashion identity, including rocking jewellery that alternates between small, look-accentuating pieces and wow-factor statements.

90s Throwback at the 2020 Grammy Awards

Lipa looked like she walked right out of a 1998 issue of Vogue at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.  She topped off her mid-waisted maxi slip skirt and matching bustier-style top with a draped front (Alexander Wang) with a ton of smaller jewellery, including mismatched Maria Tash diamond earrings and a classic diamond riviera choker with matching diamond tennis bracelet. Lipa’s hands were also glistening with at least four diamond rings, including a modern mixed-cut diamond two stone ring and a pavé diamond pinky ring from Shay Jewelry.

Angelic Brilliance at 2018 Bambi Awards

Showing off her softer side, Lipa charmed at Germany’s 2018 Bambi Awards in this Valentino Spring 2019 gown. While the frills and embellishments enhanced the sheer look’s shine, it was Bulgari jewelry that really made Lipa stand out. The star kept her hair behind her ears to show off her Bulgari Divas’ Dream diamond chandelier earrings, while a Bulgari signature Serpenti diamond ring accented with sapphire and emeralds kept her hands from feeling left out, something especially important as she claimed an International Music trophy.

Emerald Elegance at the 2019 American Music Awards

Never afraid to make a bold fashion statement, Lipa shone bright in a hot pink silk gown by Miu Miu at the 2019 American Music Awards. Though its high slit and oversized velvet side bow were true attention-grabbers, the stunning rocks adorning her neck were truly captivating. In this look, Lipa skipped the earrings and kept her hair pulled back to make sure nothing distracted from the Bulgari statement necklace shining across the red carpet. The high jewellery diamond and emerald piece features a pear-shaped Colombian emerald of extraordinary size, accented by a rail of diamonds circling the neck. While some celebrities are content letting their dress do the heavy lifting, Lipa is one star who understands the importance of jewellery to truly bring a look together. 

Sizzling Snakes at the 2019 the amfAR Cannes Gala

The annual amfAR Gala during the Cannes Film Festival attracts only the biggest names in both fashion and entertainment—so standing out on the red carpet is no easy feat. But Lipa was certainly up for the challenge in a ruffled, one-shoulder Valentino Couture gown. The red confection was part of the famed Italian house’s Spring 2019 collection, and stole the show the moment the singer arrived. While Valentino is always a safe bet on a red carpet, Lipa took it one step further and elevated the look with one-of-a-kind diamond ear cuffs from Swiss jeweler de Grisogono. Snaking from the top of the ear all the way down to end with dangling pear-shaped diamonds, one can be forgiven for failing to notice the dress at all. Lipa was also decked out in a unique layered diamond necklace from de Grisogono that transitioned from prong set round diamonds in white gold to diamond beads strung like pearls.

As a nominee, Lipa pulled out all the stops for her first Grammy Awards. The silver strapless Atelier Versace frock definitely set camera light bulbs aflutter with its sweetheart neckline, pewter and silver draped corset, glistening silver skirt fitted throughout the waist and massive cathedral train. But nothing could disguise from the high jewellery Bulgari wide collar necklace, solidifying Lipa’s fandom of the brand and expertise in wearing it. Featuring adjoined diamond circles peppered with large emerald cut diamonds, the show-stopper was paired with a mismatched selection of diamond rings on almost every finger.

With six nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards, there’s no telling what shining decadence Lipa will bring to the event, but you can guarantee that whatever it is, the star is set to make another fashion home run.
